The Coquette Island Mesh Top is a made to measure crochet design – you can follow the provided size or use your own measurements to customize the fit exactly how you like. Each step includes notes and tips to help you adjust the sizing as needed.

This pattern is provided in English and uses American crochet shorthand/abbreviations. This document spans 14 pages and includes instructive images to further help you pursuit your goal result.

Recommended Skill Level: Beginner and above.

Pattern uses following crochet stitches: treble crochet (tr) and single crochet (sc).

CONSTRUCTION OF THE TOP

The Coquette Island Mesh Top is worked from the bottom up and constructed as a single main panel that includes both the front and back, with the neckline opening in the middle – worked all in one piece. Once you reach your desired top length, the neckline opening is shaped, and then you continue working the back piece.

After the front, neckline, and back are complete, the sides of the top are connected using I-cord bows. You can make as many as you like, depending on the top’s length or how much coverage you want to close the sides of your top or cover-up.

MATERIALS:

  • CROCHET HOOK any up to 7 mm
  • YARN any (up to Medium, no. 4) compatible with crochet hook
  • SCISSORS
  • TAPE MEASURE
  • STITCH MARKERS
  • TAPESTRY NEEDLE (for weaving in ends)

YARN RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • The best yarns for this project are cotton or linen (you can also use blends e.g. 60% cotton / 40% acrylic etc.),
  • You can combine 2 or 3 strands of different weight yarns to create your unique look for this top,
  • For the soft, lacy effect that the Coquette Island Mesh Top is meant to have, I highly recommend using a crochet hook of no larger than 7 mm. Even though the pattern works with any yarn and hook, this will help you achieve the right drape and maintain the intended design.

(e.g. For pink sample topI’ve used single strand of yarn: Super fine weight (no. 1). I’ve used Libelinhas Bebé brushed
baby cotton in shade Lilac 23, in total I’ve used approx. 450 m.)
