The Haze Slouchy Top is a made to measure crochet pattern – you can follow the provided size or use your own measurements to customize the fit exactly how you like. Each step includes notes and tips to help you adjust the sizing as needed.

This pattern is provided in English and uses American crochet shorthand/abbreviations. This document spans 23 pages and includes instructive images to further help you pursuit your goal result.

Recommended Skill Level: Advanced Beginner and above.

Pattern uses following crochet stitches: single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc) and slip stitch (sl st).

 

CONSTRUCTION OF THE TOP

The Haze Slouchy Top is worked from the top down in a classic raglan construction. You’ll begin at the neckline, then work four increase points to shape the sleeves and body simultaneously. Increases are continued evenly until the desired bust measurement is reached.

Once the yoke is complete, the sleeves are separated from the body. The body is worked first, followed by each sleeve, which is completed individually. After separating the body from the sleeves, the lower body is worked with shaping until the desired waist measurement is reached, then continued without shaping until the desired length.

The sleeves are also worked with shaping to achieve the relaxed batwing silhouette. Once the body and sleeves are completed, an optional I-cord side tie can be added to create a scrunched effect on one side of the top.

 

MATERIALS:

• CROCHET HOOK: 5,5 mm for the body and the sleeves / 4 or 4,5 mm for the neckline and I-cord ti
• YARN any(up to Light weight no. 3)
• SCISSORS
• TAPE MEASURE
• STITCH MARKERS
• TAPESTRY NEEDLE (optional for weaving in ends)

 

YARN RECOMMENDATIONS:

• For the best drape and to maintain the intended look of the design, the Haze Slouchy Top pattern works best with cotton or linen yarns. You can also use blends (e.g. 50% linen, 50% acrylic, etc.),
• To make this top, you can use any yarn up to Light weight (no. 3) paired with a 5,5 mm crochet hook. Using a 5,5 mm crochet hook with Super Fine (no. 1) or Fine (no. 2) weight yarn will create a more lightweight, mesh-like fabric,
• To ensure it works well with the 5,5 mm crochet hook used in this design and to maintain the best drape of the top, I don’t recommend using a yarn heavier than Light (no. 3) weight.

e.g.:

• To make a white sample top, I’ve used 5,5 mm crochet hook and single strand of yarn: Super fine (no. 1) – DMC Natura Linen, 50g / 150 m in shade in shade 001 White,
• To make a blue sample top, I’ve used 5,5 mm crochet hook and single strand of yarn: Fine weight (no. 2) – DROPS Loves You 7, 50g / 170 m in shade 27 Forget Me Not,
• In total I’ve used approx. 750 m of yarn to make each of sample tops
