Stardust Cardigan Pattern

!This is a PDF Download, Not a Physical Clothing Item!

Introducing the Stardust Cardigan crochet pattern by Knittybae! This downloadable PDF pattern features a beautiful V stitch design, creating a light, airy mesh effect. For this pattern, you can choose between two cardigan closure options: the instructions include both a zipper installation and an I-cord tie closure.

The Stardust Cardigan is a made-to-measure crochet design – you can either follow one of the two provided sizes or use your own measurements to customize the fit exactly how you like. Each step includes notes and tips to help you adjust the sizing as needed.

This pattern is provided in English and uses American crochet shorthand/abbreviations. This document spans 28 pages and includes instructive images to further help you pursuit your goal result.

Recommended Skill Level: Advanced Beginner and above.

Pattern uses following crochet stitches: V-st (V stitch), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc).

CONSTRUCTION OF THE CARDIGAN

The Stardust Cardigan is worked from the bottom-up and is made up of three main body panels: two front panels and one back panel. You’ll begin by crocheting the two front panels, which are identical in construction. Once you reach the desired length, each front panel is shaped at the top to create the neckline.

Next, you’ll make the back panel, which is twice the width of one front panel, with extra space in the center to allow for the front opening. Once all body panels are complete, they are seamed together at the shoulders and sides. The sleeves are then added directly to the armholes and worked in the round, so no seaming is required.

To finish, a simple single crochet lining is added along the front opening, hem, and sleeves to create a clean, polished look.

MATERIALS:

  • CROCHET HOOK: 6 mm / UK 4 / US J/10 (+ smaller crochet hook for cardigan’s lining)
  • YARN: Fine (no. 2) held double or up to Medium (no.4) held single compatible with 6 mm crochet hook
  • SCISSORS
  • TAPE MEASURE
  • STITCH MARKERS
  • TAPESTRY NEEDLE (optional for weaving in ends)
  • SAFETY PINS (optional for zipper installation)

YARN RECOMMENDATIONS

  • For this project, I mostly recommend using 100% cotton yarn. However, linen or wool yarns can also work well. You’re welcome to use blends too (e.g. 60% cotton and 40% acrylic etc.)
  • For the best texture in the Stardust Cardigan, I recommend holding the Fine (no. 2) yarn double.
  • Even if you choose to use a single strand of yarn for the entire cardigan, I recommend switching to a smaller crochet hook for the lining. This will create tighter stitches, helping to reduce gaps and give the lining a cleaner, more polished look.

e.g. For blue sample cardigan I’ve used 6 mm crochet hook and two strands of yarn held double: Fine weight (no. 2). I’ve used DROPS‘ Loves You 7 in shade 28 Deep Ocean (in total approx. 1560 m),

For red sample cardigan I’ve used 6 mm crochet hook and two strands of yarn held double: Fine weight (no. 2). I’ve used Holst Garn Coast in shade Bourgogne (in total approx. 1360 m).
